Born in 2011 in Concord, North Carolina, Colt Johnson has always had a desire to compete. As soon as he was old enough to walk and talk he wanted to race something. On his second Christmas he got a brand new Power Wheel and would wear the battery out daily, making a lot of left hand turns and tearing up much of the grass. We all knew Colt was born to go fast and was as fearless as the day is long.
In June 2016 Colt visited NCQMA to watch the race events and he quickly decided that racing was something he wanted to try. Later that month he participated in one of NCQMA’s Arrive and Drives and of course, was instantly hooked. Right out of the gate, Colt proved he was in the right seat as he hit every mark on the race track as he had been racing Quarter Midgets for years. Just a short couple of months following the Arrive and Drive, a new race team was born. His father, Shaun, had Colt at the track for practice any chance he could before entering his first race.
In the short period since Colt started racing, he has enjoyed the physical racing, and loves all the time he gets to spend with his family and friends at every event. Colt is laser-focused in the race car and after one short season behind the wheel, all he wants to do is race cars.
