SALSBURY, NC. – In Saturday's first race of the season at North Carolina Quarter Midget Association Colten Johnson had a solid start to 2017 bringing home a 3rd place finish.
With a new look car and the new season beginning the excitement has built since finishing 3rd in January at the Columbus Indoor Winternationals. Colts Stanley Bulldog went through a complete overhaul in the off season, coming out with a new Green and Black look for this years campaign. Johnson's Flash Engine, Supan Shocks and Hoosier Tires were all new and ready for the first action of the year.
Practice on Friday went well with Crew Chief Dave Phileman working on the set up after the complete off season overhaul making the car better after each run. Asked about how the new car Colt Johnson said "I love it, green is my favorite color and I am so excited to be racing again!"
During qualifying on Saturday Colten put in a solid 7.95 second lap good enough to start 3rd. Held up some on the start Colt fell back to 5th. During the event he was able to miss a couple of wrecks and charge back to place on the podium. Colt improves each week and its exciting to see. "I had so much fun and want to thank all my crew for their hard work" said Colten Johnson after the event on Saturday.
Colts next race event will be May 13th at NCQMA where admission is always free to come out and see the stars of tomorrow today!
