What started out with a poor forecast for race day turned into another solid effort for Colt Johnson. The start of the day was delayed until early afternoon with practice being the first on track activity. Colt laid down fast and consistent laps in practice and really looked to be headed for a great day.
After a pill draw Colt lined up in second spot in the heat race. A poor lineup had him shuffled back on the start. He managed to salvage a 3rd place finish which lined him up 3rd for the feature race based on USAC's rule book for passing points.
The start of the feature went great, good jump and made a pass going into turn one. He was consistently fast and running down the leader when something happened. Laps times and consistency were definitely off and he fell back, but still held on for a second place finish. After looking the car over in tech there was a problem with the suspension, great accomplishment to hang on for 2nd!
Colt will be back in action June 3rd at NCQMA, come watch! Admission always free and a whole lot of fun.
ALSO, today is Colt's 6th birthday. HAPPY BIRTHDAY Wheelman!
