The feel of fall was definitely in the air Saturday for the final regular season race at NCQMA. Cooler temps made for a very different race track and the results proved that.
Colt was lined up on the Pole for his heat race and jumped out to a sizeable lead only to spin out all alone because the race car was so loose. During the rest of the race he spun out 2 additional times and earned 3 strikes which disqualified him from that heat race. The team went to work on trying to figure things out before the feature event, knowing all too well things had to improve.
Multiple things were done to the car to make it better and the hope was it would be a good race car to get the results in the feature. Starting in P4 is hard at NCQMA, anything on the outside can be challenging. But in true Colt Johnson fashion he settled into line in 5th place. Racing smart and letting things come to him it was fun to watch a much better race car pick off a couple of positions and end up P3 for another podium on the 2017 season.
Colt will be back in action for the Carolina Nationals at NCQMA Friday-Saturday November 24-25.
